What is a soft lockdown?

A soft lockdown, also known as a partial lockdown, is a safety procedure used in schools, businesses, and other institutions to secure the premises and protect occupants from potential threats.

During a soft lockdown, normal activities may continue within the building, but additional security measures are put in place to limit access to and from the facility. This may include locking exterior doors, monitoring entrances and exits, and restricting movement within the building.

Soft lockdowns are typically used in response to external threats, such as police activity in the area, reports of suspicious individuals nearby, or a potential threat in the vicinity of the building. The goal of a soft lockdown is to keep occupants safe and secure while allowing normal activities to continue as much as possible.

In the event of a soft lockdown, it is important for individuals within the building to follow all instructions from security personnel or authorities, remain calm, and stay in a secure location until the lockdown is lifted. Communication channels may be used to provide updates and information to occupants during the lockdown.
